The Ledge is a powerful rock ballad, that inspires its listener to take a leap of faith. In life we encounter crossroads, ledges to jump off of, forks in the road, big decisions to make – this song hopes to inspire courage in the face of all these things. The lyrics of the song were inspired by a variety of local kids I’d encountered on my travels around the world – the kind of kids that would frequent the tourist traps and beach-side taverns. They were the kind of youths that fearlessly jumped off the sides of waterfalls, cliffs, and ledges – and whose fearlessness and ceaseless coercion, inspired you to take your own leaps of faith into the unknown. It’s a poetic analogy to life too, not just because it’s a song with a powerful message, but also because it happens to be one of the more classic rock songs on the album.
“The musicianship on Letters to Everybody really showcases this. One of the standout tracks, The Ledge, is a perfect example. The track opens much like a modern day pop song would, with synth, staccato strings, a sprinkle of floating strings and full organ chords that then drop into a bass- and synth-driven verse. It’s a great example of the eclectic artistry the album boasts, and a sure sign of Bad Knights’ potential to stand out above the rest. The drumming, in parts, would be as comfortable in a gospel song as it is here. The track bobs and weaves like Tyson in his prime, all working towards a big build, a traditional Bad Knights that crescendos with a big 90s-style guitar solo – the perfect ending.”

-
Don't take those steps back
this leap could change your life
or you could die, you know
Who knows, who knows, I don’t
You've made it this far, though
chances are, you'll make this jump too
But for sure
Who knows, I sure don’t
But me, I’d rather be
the one that jumped
Than the one that never did
And know I never did.
But you just need to see
Its more than just this ledge
here it’s life, thats happening
Don't worry dear, you're a pioneer
it's alright, you're feeling fear
Take your time, but don't change your line
Don't worry dear, you pioneer
Its alright, its lonely here
Take your time, but don't change your mind
You rare kind.
You rare kind.
The place you’re seeking is
just the other side of here
The only life worth living
is the other side of fear
And if your hearts worth saving
save it here.
If you let go, you could glow
who knows.
Rather safe, than sorry, they said
but who the hell, is they, anyway
i heard him all my life
But never even met the guy
so im listening to me this time
I’m listening to me this time
Don't worry dear, you're a pioneer
it's alright, you're feeling fear
Take your time, but don't change your mind
Don't worry dear, you pioneer
Its alright, its lonely here
Take your time, but don't change your mind
You rare kind
You rare kind
