A conversation between a man on his way to a bar, and a man about to take his own life.
Suicide Man is a haunting yet inspiring song that touches on the subjects of depression, mental health, and suicide. However, following suit with the rest of the album, the track manages to convey a compelling and quite beautiful message in the form of a bitter-sweet monologue.
Rather than a happy ending, the song leaves you pondering on the message for a few seconds. Did he make it? Did he find joy, love, or peace? Did he live a long and happy life? Like you, I don’t know what became of him either. Like a Schrödinger’s ‘person’, he’s either out there somewhere, or he isn’t. Perhaps in the end it doesn’t matter so much when it happened, or if it happened... perhaps all that matters is that he gave it another day.

Heartbreak, Winter aches
whatever the problem is mate
You don’t need to go this way
Climb down, we get a beer
this bridge is great, but
I’ve got a bar to see at 8
You’re making me late,
suicide man
too hurt to live
kicking his own can
on this lousy bridge
Trust me, it ain’t a long way down
100 feet, that’s busted ribs
broken teeth
Tomorrow I’ll show you a better place
Theres a cliff this high
there, you can live or die
Take me honest
sometimes the worlds a strange place
give it another day
Trust me, I know
life is a shitshow
hey, it’s late we gotta go
You can live with the world
you can live with your heart
learn to live with yourself
get out of your head
Do what you can
Mr Suicide Man
If you can smile now
You’ll laugh again
Better living, than half hearted suicide
there’s only darkness on the other side
sometimes its a strange place
but it sure beats heaven, hell and outer space
Take me honest
sometimes the worlds a strange place
give it another day
Trust me, I know
life is a shitshow, but hey
it’s late we gotta go
You can live with the world
you can live with your heart
learn to live with yourself
get out of your head
Do what you can
Mr Suicide man
If you can smile now
You’ll laugh again
He’s just doing what he can
another sad man, still kicking his can
but now it’s tomorrows plan
